After a long absence from Australia, International 6x6 trucks are coming back on to the national market.  Nearly two years after it recommenced building the 6x6 trucks in the 5600i models, International recently finalised the right-hand drive conversions.

We recognised the opportunity to offer these trucks to our core market – namely the mining and construction industries – for applications such as service, lubrication, elevating work platforms, fuel or water trucks – or any other use for that matter!

The beauty of these trucks is that they are big, basic, bonneted trucks – and come standard with Allison automatic transmissions, a very big plus in today’s mining environment.

As the authorised Australian importer of these trucks, NationWide Off-Road Truck Sales plans to offer trucks ranging from LHD & RHD 6x6s with a gross vehicle mass of

• 40,000kg GVM                      27,900kg Payload
• 34,500kg GVM                      24,000kg Payload
• 27,900kg GVM                      18,000kg Payload (ADR Compliant)

Naturally, the AWD adds a new dimension to site-specific service trucks.  We believe they fill a void in the current market, both for road registrable and site-compliant trucks.

We see this as an exciting opportunity to introduce a whole new range of trucks into the Australian off-road market, and we are confident they will provide a cost-effective alternative to the existing practice of using highway trucks in the often harsh and unforgiving mining and construction workplaces.
